GBI arrests Cold Case Death in 19-year death

Douglas-Das Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Doris Worrell from Georgia in 19-year-old Cold Case-Tod.

The GBI, 58 years old, from Douglas, Georgia, arrested and accused, with malice, murder, crimes, conspiracy for the commission of murder and a tightened battery in connection with the death of his wife Doris Worrell, almost 20 years ago. Jon, a current inhabitant of Maryville, Missouri, was taken into account without incidents. The GBI and Coffee County Sheriff's Office were supported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Sheriff's Buchanan County, the Sheriff's Nodaway County and the Maryville Department of Public Safety. Jon is currently waiting for an extradition hearing to determine the time of his return to Coffee County, Georgia.

On September 20, 2006, the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Douglas, Georgia, was requested by Coffee County Sheriff's Office for a death examination in Jon's Sports Park in Douglas, Georgia. Doris Worrell, 39 years old, was shot and killed in her local business. Over the years, the GBI and Coffee County County Sheriff's Office pursued both in the United States and in international investigations and undertook to uncover the truth behind Doris' Murder. This arrest is the direct result of this relentless effort.

The GBI, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office and the district prosecutor of WayCross Judicial Circuit will hold a press conference on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in Coffee County Sheriff's Office, where the investigators provide additional information about the investigation.
