River Plate and Boca Juniors fall out of the Argentine championship

River Plate and Boca Juniors will be the two biggest names in the “League Professional” in Argentina forever. However, these are turbulent times and both clubs crashed from the National League championship at the quarter-finals.

Both sides lost in a depressing week for their fans and another bad tournament for their domestic and global reputations at home through “smaller” clubs. Not least with a club world championship on the horizon and like Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, who are waiting.

Argentina has two liget tournaments during the calendar year. The first of them is known as “aperatura” and after a time of the league games it has now reached the play-off stage. At least this means that Boca and River will have another shot in the league -Ruhm in 2025, but the first half of the campaign led to tears in the quarter level.

Last night was shocked by Flusplatte at Plusens, a relatively tiny club that plays his home games only 5 km from the gigantic Estadio Monumental from River Plate. For the context, River Plate is fourth in the annual table with just one loss from 16 games. Plusens is in 16 in the 13th place with only six wins in 16. This was a shock on every level.

Boca fails again

Boca Juniors has a significantly worse time in its history as a river. The team does not play in the Copa Libertadores this season and now they have not won the league anymore. This weekend you lost 1-0 against rivals in the play-off quarter.

Boca was embarrassing before the start of the season when they did not qualify for the top club competition in South America. Boca has had many problems with the field in recent years and it was catastrophic. The only thing a face could save would be the success against the Rivals River Plate, but Boca only managed to win one of her last six “Superclasico” plays.

Big challenges in front of

Both clubs will play their next league games in July if they have a second chance of having local cutlery. Before that, however, there is the small task of the FIFA Club World Championship 2025 in the USA.

Both Boca and River will compete with the top international teams this summer and have to improve if they are to achieve any results. If you do not do this, there will be no good look for football in Argentina, and worse, potential defeats against clubs from Japan or New Zealand would lead to a catastrophe for the name of these huge football institutions.
