A driver who had stepped out of his vehicle after an accident in Metro Detroit was then hit and killed by two oncoming vehicles, reported the Michigan State Police.

The circumstances occurred on Tuesday at 10:20 p.m. on Interstate 75 towards the south near the Grange Hall Road in Oakland County. The Detroit Regional Communication Center was notified at this time of a traffic accident with injuries. The severity became known after the soldiers arrived.

The driver had lost control “because of driving too quickly for road conditions”, the soldiers said, and the car hit the right shoulder wall in the construction zone before it was deactivated in the left lane.

The driver identified as a 25-year-old man from Burton climbed out of his destroyed car and stood near the left lane when another traffic approached.

A second car that drove on the left lane did not stop and hit the handicapped vehicle and pushed it out of control into the right shoulder. The man was also beaten and landed on the street.

Another vehicle towards the south then hit the man who was on the road.

The Burton man was declared dead at the crime scene.

The other drivers were not injured, soldiers said, examining them.

According to the Michigan Transport Ministry of Transport, all lanes of the I-75 were closed south. The highway was reopened after the first examination.

“I can't say enough, stay in your car when you are involved in an accident,” said F/LT. Mike Shaw. “The pedestrian who was not injured during the first crash lost his life because he stood on the street after this crash. Stay in your vehicle, stop your seat belt and call 911.”
