Jelena Dokic confirms the death of a alienated father and former coach Damir

Jelena Dokic says that her grief is “difficult and complicated” after announcing the death of her alienated father and former coach Damir.

The former documentary number four, who retired in 2014, announced in 2017 that she had suffered from her father for years in mental and physical abuse.

Damir was banned by all WTA tour events in 2000 for six months after being abusive during the US Open in the Player Lounge.

He was also imprisoned in 2009 because he threatened the Australian ambassador in Serbia with a grenade

Dokic, who reached the Wimbledon semi-final in 2000, had been alienated by her father for 10 years.

Australia's Dokic wrote under an Instagram post of her father and little child as a small child: “As you know, my relationship with my father was difficult and painful with a lot of history.

“Despite everything and no matter how difficult, difficult and in the past 10 years, our relationship and communication are not easy, it is never easy to lose a parent and a father, even one thing you are alienated from.

“The loss of a alienated parent is associated with difficult and complicated grief.”
