Jofra Archer has excluded Odis from the thumb injury from West Indies

Jofra Archer was excluded from England's Metro Bank Odi series against West Indian Islands next week and could be in doubt for a proposed return to Red Ball campaign for England in doubt next month after suffering a right thumb injury during his IPL-Stint with Rajasthan Royals.

Archer initially suffered the injury to the introduction of Kolkata Knight Riders in Eden Garden on May 4th.

He was initially mentioned in England's 16-man squad for the Odi series, which begins on May 29 in Edgbaston, but will be re-evaluated by the English medical team in the next fourteen days to determine when he could return to the action.

Lancashires left-handed sailor Luke Wood, who had already been called for the T20I series following in June, was added to the squad in his place. Wood played two earlier Odis in 2022-23, but still has to record a Wicket in the format.

Archer's omission from the T20I series had pointed out his likely admission to the two four-day games of England Lions against India, which serves as a warm-up game as five-test series of the next month.

The first in Canterbury from May 30th to June 3rd runs at the same time as the Odi series, but the second in Northampton from June 6th to 9th was a realistic goal for Archer and could have made a first first-class appearance in May 2021 for Sussex against Kent in more than four years.

Since then, Archer has been fighting with a number of long -term injuries, including an elbow problem that required several operations, and a stress fracture of the back. He celebrated his English comeback in May last year, just in time for the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and was also presented in the Champions Trophy before the IPL.
