Why living swords are the coolest swords in video games

In the pantheon of the cool swords, massive metal plates steal, sound a lot of attention from space rock and icons such as the master sword and phantom blade. But the living sword, a blade that houses a soul or a living being, or just a sword -shaped creature, can be sword coolest sword.

Demonic or cursed swords, weapons that thirst for blood or hunger for human souls are not necessarily Life Swords, although they too are cool. Who does not long to equip a weapon that is slowly leaving with the promised compromise of immense power and is slowly being spoiled by a malicious force? We all do it. The living sword is an intoxicating trope. There should be more souls trapped in swords, not less. This is my platform.

The best (and, sorry, the most obvious) selection for the living sword -platonic ideal is the soul role, which is not only a gnarled, Veny living, living sword, which is led by various fighters, but also the central antagonist of the entire SoulCalibur series. The soul edge, says Lore, has not started its existence as a living being. It was simply a normal sword that was corrupted by blood and violence. It was looking for hosts to float it and damage it. Of course, The Soul Edge has a fatal design error: a huge eyeball, every weak point of a video game.

In the course of the SoulCalibur franchise, Soul Edge has accepted many forms – not just a cool large sword form – and finally freed himself from his trust in people to hover. Soul Edge manifested a humanoid shape to become inferno and actually wore as a big guy with a cool sword. In reality, Soul Edge simply became another cool trope: obsessed, living armor.

The most child -friendly living sword is Pokémon X And Y'S honor. While many other Pokémon are simply creatures that have a remarkable resemblance to a lifeless object, honor follows the obsessed living sword model, but is also similar to a hermit crab. According to Ehred's Pokédex entry, the blue jewel, embedded in his body's hand protection officer of his body, is “the true body of honor”. The rest is only remaining from a poor dead.

Better, Honedy Lore realizes that in contrast to many other living swords, it Hate be handled. “If someone dares to grab their grip,” says Honedy's Pokédex entry that he wraps his sash “around the arm of this person and completely drains the life energy of this person.” So yes, don't try to honor, otherwise you will probably die. (This is a game series for children.)

Honedy understands many of the cool heavy rules, including his sword, but two swords are even cooler. Therefore, it develops into Doublade, two swords “work on telepathy to coordinate attacks and reduce their enemies on ribbons”.

A kind of living sword knows that it is not necessary to stop at two or even three swords. Castlevania's recurring ruling sword as a Spectral Sword-is a sword that is obsessed by Poltergeist, which exerts a dozen other swords (and daggers and layers) to give the person who is entering a bad time in Dracula. The rulers may be an obsessed sword, but also understands showmanship. It forms a snowflake-like pattern with its arsenal of swords as a performance.

First introduced in Castlevania: Rondo of BloodThe ruling sword is just one of many living swords in the Castlevania franchise. But it cools the evil sword, a black blade with a silly face of Castlevania: Laws of InnocationAnd the familiar sword, a speaking blade of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night This loses cool points by “slash!” And “Slice!” how it cuts enemies of his own free will.

My favorite sword and perhaps the darkest living sword in games is the Snapdragon from the tactics -Oger franchise. Presented in Tactics Oger: The Knight of Lodis And Let us stick togetherThe Snapdragon requires sacrificing one of its allies to forge it. What makes the Snapdragon unique is that the sword of magic conjures up the sword and catches the sacrificed character in it, and the attributes of the sword are based on the class and statistics of the unfortunate soul.

If you are a fairy sacrifice that is in your army, for example, the Snapdragon sword is with additional luck. A snapdragon that is carried by a character of the Dragoon class will add additional damage to the enemies from the dragon type. But all Snapdragons are consistent when the name of the sword is taken from the name of the fake character that created it. So they always remember which of their teammates died to bring this sword to life. (It is also interesting that characters willingly use the Snapdragon magic. It is intense.)

There are many other examples of living swords, including Lilarcor from Baldurs Gate, perhaps the annoying talking blade from Gaming. Kleie of the Donkey Kong Country, a sensitive cutlass and probably the closest equivalent to Excalibur in the Mario universe; and aatrox, League of Legends'Angry-Guy-Stuck-in-A-Sword. But it is a usable trope that needs even more representation in the game, especially since we may never hear from Ol 'Soul Edge again.
