News Watch adds reporters for rural and Indian stories

South Dakota News Watch adds a full -time reporter to concentrate on rural and Indian communities throughout the state as a report for the member of the America Corps.

Molly Wetsch was born and grew up in South Dakota. Her family comes from peasant cities and the Cheyenne River Indian reserve, so that she understands the problems that are unique for both communities.

Wetsch previously worked as an editorial intern for Forbes in New York City, worked at the employee network and specialized in consumer technology. At Forbes she also wrote Breaking News and contributed to the Forbes “50 over 50 list”.

Wetsch began her career in journalism at the Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, where she wrote a monthly column and reported local business news as an intern and contributed to the writer for Siouxfall.business.

She has recently graduated from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where she received a degree in Global Business. There she was deputy publisher of the University Times, the newspaper of the university and deputy editor of the Trinity Business Review.

Wetsch begins on July 7th and will live in the city center of Sioux Falls, but will travel to the state as part of this new beat by the report for America. It is one of the 107 incoming corps members who were selected from a competition pool of more than 1,300 applicants.
