Detectives who work to identify men who robbed East Charlotte Walmart

Charlotte, NC (WBTV) – Detectives of the police department of Charlotte -Mecklenburg are working to identify a man who robbed a walmart in East Charlotte at the beginning of the month.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 14th in the Walmart in 3850 E. Independence BLVD in East Charlotte.

Clyburn said the incident started with shoplifting. She said a loss prevention officer was made aware of a man who steals in a section of the shop.

“He saw how the person put objects in a few backpacks that belong to Walmart,” said Clyburn.

She noticed that the situation was tense when the officials of the loss prevention confronted the man and he pulled a knife.

“Extremely volatile. You don't want to endanger your life for property or goods,” said Clyburn in relation to the situation.

She said the man walked out of the Walmart with various stolen objects and started the neighborhood behind the shop.

The detective said that shop theft in Charlotte is still a daily event.

“Some of them take things for personal use and some of them for financial profits. You don't know the consequences either, you know the crime,” she explained.

Clyburn said the man who robbed the Walmart wore a checkered shirt and Khaki pants. She said it was possible that he lives near the business.
