The accusations fell against the man, who was previously accused at DC shootout, in which Blake Bozeman was killed

One of two men who were charged with a fatal shooting in a DC night club in which the life of the former college basketball speaks to Fox 5, now that he is a free man.

Awan Shelton spent most of the last month for the first degree murder, but now the case has been dropped against him.

The background story:

Shelton was accused in a sensational case – a mass shooting in the Cru Lounge Shisha Bar in the H Street, a year and a half ago, in the northeast.

The former basketball player of Morgan State University, Blake Bozeman, was shot … others who were injured by the shots.

Antwan Shelton was one of two men who were only charged last month in the case. The other was A DC violence interuptter

But now Shelton is out of prison. A judge released him from custody at the request of the federal prosecutor.

Shelton says that this is because he was not there that night and was not the man who can be seen in the surveillance images that were part of the examination.

What he says:

Now Shelton is just trying to put the parts of his life together again.

“Just tried to get my life in order,” said Shelton to Fox 5.

The 41-year-old DC-native DC-born DC born had spent time in prison, but never because of a violent crime.

He said Fox 5 that he had been fired by his job at Pepco – a job that he says that he needed a lot of time and hard work to get.

Shelton says he was grateful that the system thought it was appropriate to relieve him of prison, since many people who are charged with crime will announce their innocence, but says that he still has to fight.

“Although I am at home, I don't have a job, so I don't have that everyone will say that it will be okay, but what is today? What about my bills? What about my family? What about my mental health? Do you know my peace?

What's next:

Shelton says he is planning to sue the city and MPD and hope to get his job as a Lineman back for Pepco. FOX 5 has contacted the DC police, the US public prosecutor's office and Pepco. We are still waiting to hear back.

What happened:

According to the police, the shootout occurred on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

On arrival, officers were three men and one woman who suffered from gunshot wounds.

Bozeman was declared dead after transport to a hospital. The other three victims were treated for non -life -threatening injuries.

Bozeman was known in the region as Star Morgan State basketball player and son of a winner coach. He was also a husband and father of three small children.

Fox 5 also learned that Bozeman served as a leader in the community after he started a non-profit organization that worked to help athletes find their career when professional basketball was not for them.
