The superintendent of the Lancaster School emphasizes changes to the SOL tests

Weems – superintendent Jessica Davis, who trained on Monday, May 19, said the school authority, said that changes after the latest legislation were tested by the general assembly on the standards for learning tests (SOL). The changes will be effective for the school year 2026-27.

The Lancaster High School band teacher Kenny Flester and the ECEC (Early Childhood Education Center) Custodian Chaliott were recently appointed division-wide teachers and employees of the year. Others were recognized by the ECEC teacher Martha Crittenden, the teacher of the Lancaster Elementary School, Emily Webb, and the teaching assistant Carisa Davis and the LHS sports director Chuck Parrish. Davis said one of the positive aspects was the publication of practical tests. “This is a victory because the language of the SOL test is difficult,” she said.

Davis also noticed that the change in the timing of the test is a positive step. The law also requires tests to be carried out in the past two weeks of the school year. “It sounds phenomenal and we all love it as an educator, but it will be a few challenges for children who….
