Former Gator Pitcher, Brave Prospect tend to be ready MLB

The former starter of the Florida Gators Weekend and Atlanta Braves Prospect Hurston Waldrep has recently corrected the course in Triple-A.

At the beginning of Wednesday against the Louisville bats, he threw six innings with two runners on six goals and two walks while having nine. In his last three starts he has an ERA of 2.79 and has recorded the sixth inning every time. He ended the sixth in his last two excursions.

In his first six starts he had a 7.02 era and never passed the fifth inning, which he only did twice. After high hopes for one step forward this season, the right -handed man looked as if it were in trouble. However, he could start finding things out.

According to Waldreps Scouting report, Waldep has three highly rated parking spaces, the highest its splitter. This pitch is rated 65 on the scale from 20 to 80. This is considered a “plus”. His fastball is in the same category with a 60 rating. His slider is 55, which is rated above average.

Waldep gave his MLB debut last season and he was anything but ready. He allowed 13 deserved runs in just seven combined inner sings, which were set up via two starts. Then he went to the injured list shortly before it was to be selected for Triple-A. When he came back, he threw the rest of the season for Gwinnett with an ERA of 3.17 in seven starts.

Waldep spent two years in Southern Miss before moving to Florida for his junior year. His efforts with the Gators brought him the second team all-American honors from D1baseball.

He went 10-3 with an ERA of 4.16 and kept the racket an average of 0.228 opponents, while he started all 19 of his planned weekend starts. He was part of the Gator team, which ran into College World Series and removed a victory from the second national championship in program history. The Braves took him in the first round (24th overall) in the draft of 2024.
