The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has completed its investigation of the death of the twin brothers Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis, whereby the case decided to suicide after a detailed examination and autopsy results.

The 19-year-old brothers were shot on March 8 in Bell Mountain in Towns County, more than 90 miles removed from their house in Lawreceville.

According to the GBI, the investigators checked the data of the mobile phone location, the surveillance material, the internet history, the purchase records and the forensic evidence, all of which supported the statement that the injuries suffered by the brothers themselves were inflicted themselves.

What we know:

The mobile phone data helped the investigators to create a timeline that showed the brothers that they traveled from their house in Gwinnett County to Bell Mountain. Monitoring video from several points along the route confirmed that they were not accompanied by anyone.

Only Naazir Lewis had bought a plane ticket for a planned trip to Boston on March 7th. He went to the airport alone on March 19, but never started a flight. Records also show that Naazir bought ammunition in the firearm found on site, with the order being delivered to her house on March 5.

The other supportive evidence included Internet search historia for topics such as “How to load a weapon” and suicide statistics from 2024. Forensic tests confirmed that both brothers had fired the weapon used in the incident.

The GBI met with members of the Lewis family before they publish their results and will officially close the case in the coming weeks.

The background story:

After the twins had passed on the mountain, the Lewis family was not convinced that the brothers had taken their own life. In previous interviews, relatives described the twins as optimistic and excited to travel to Boston. Monitoring material from the night of March 7 showed that the brothers are eating snacks at a Shell petrol station in Lawreceville, without visible signs of need.

Her aunt Samira Brawner was loud about her doubts. “I know that something has happened to them. I know that they were murdered,” she said in an earlier interview with FOX 5. The twins that were not used were found in their wallets when their bodies were found, which fueled the family from the family.

The conclusion of the GBI follows weeks of speculation and the concern of the community, especially after it became known that a fireman had been arrested because he had taken unauthorized photos of the death assistance and divided publicly.

Big Picture View:

The case solved deep emotional reactions both locally, national and online, where supporters from the Lewis family called for further investigations of their death.

What's next:

The GBI says that the investigation will be officially closed in the coming weeks. At this point, Fox 5 Atlanta has no longer spoken to the family since her meeting with the GBI.
