Mangaluru: At least 15 people were arrested after a man had been killed by a group of over 25 people because he had screamed during a local cricket game in the village of Kudupu on the outskirts of Mangaluru City 'Pakistan Zindabad', the police said on Tuesday.
According to officers, the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on April 27 near the Bhatra Kallurti Temple.
The victim, whose identity does not yet have to be determined, was allegedly attacked with sticks and suffered several injuries that led to internal bleeding. He was declared dead in the hospital, the police added.

A complaint submitted by a resident of the Mangaluru Rural Police Station has led to the registration of a case in accordance with Section 103 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which is addressed by murders that were committed by groups of five or more people.
The authorities arrested 15 suspects, while they are actively pursuing 10 additional people in connection with the case.
“The defendant, who is a resident of Kudupu, is already in our care. The section called in this case is very strictly proven, the accused can be exposed to either individually or as a group, with lifelong liability or even the death penalty.
Efforts take place to track down and arrest the remaining suspects. The police said that CCTV film material and mobile data are analyzed to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Dakshina Kannada, condemned the murder and instructed the police to take strict measures against the culprits.
“During the playing of Cricket, a verbal argument between a group of players and a young man from another community broke out, which led to the attack,” he said.
He explained that several suspects have already been arrested and that a thorough examination is currently underway.
