Ex-SFPD police officer, which is charged with the alleged DUI crash, appears in front of court NBC Bay Area

Less than a week after graduating from the San Francisco Police Academy, an up -and -coming officer is exposed to almost a dozen criminal charges compared to a suspected DUI crash.

The now former SFPD officer, 28-year-old Ryan Kwong, stepped on his first court appearance on Wednesday. He was arrested early Saturday morning after a crash on the Sunset Boulevard. The police said he got into a minivan at high speed.

After the criminal complaint, Kwong faces 11 separate crimes, including Dui and arranges four separate victims of large bodily harm. Three of these victims were in the minivan police that Kwong was against the case. The fourth was Kwong's passenger.

Kwong was silent in court. His lawyer Eileen Burke said that she is still waiting for all evidence to be handed over by the public prosecutor, but she said that her client does what happened.

“His thoughts are currently for the people who have been injured and hope that they have a quick and complete recovery, and he takes responsibility for what happened,” said Burke.

Kwong has no previous crime history and he is not considered a violent perpetrator. Judge Gregory Syren had him released from prison. It was ordered to have installed a tracking system and a breath interlock system.

Before his indictment, Kwong's parents and some friends entered the courtroom to receive support, but did not speak to NBC Bay Area.
