Even with a late start through playing overseas and the learning curve that moves from the Euroleague, and adjustments that come to professional games with the move from the world, the 23-year-old striker realizes that they ended up in the right place with supportive international teammates in an expansion team in the basketball lover in North California.

The transition is a bit discouraging since she arrived on Thursday, but every day Salaun is making progress to be familiar with everything on and off the square – and she said there is no comfort that she needs at home because “I really 100% … Really basketball, basketball helps to feel more comfortable here.”

“I have to adapt quickly and that's the most difficult part for me, but we are day 2 and I feel much better,” she said. “People are great here and helped me a lot. Everyone tried to give me the rhythm, and and I'm really grateful for that. I appreciate everyone here – coaches, players, everyone try to help me.”

As a silver medalist at France at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, Salaun is fresh from Beretta Family Schio to the Italian MVP ceremonies of the Italian league and the final.

There are many similarities in the Golden State play style.

“We are physically running a lot. I actually love that,” she said. “I think this is the part of my game, the most, physicality, and I feel it.

The teammate of Valkyries, Carla Lite, played alongside Salaun in the French national team and will do their best to acclimatize in the coming weeks and months.

“She is a great shooter, she runs and she is very big,” said Lite. “I think it is difficult to come late, so I have to help her, in defense and in the crime.

And Salaun begins to learn the pieces and various sets before the team's second game on Wednesday at the Chase Center. Where the Valkyries sold their long -awaited start on Friday, May 16.

The trainers arrived early in the Oakland training facility to work with Salaun.

“She picks up things very quickly,” said coach Natalie Nakase. “But we sent her things when she played overseas, we sent her film, we made zoom meetings. We prepare you.”

Part of it will also monitor your court time at an early stage to avoid overuse when you consider that Salaun has played.

Every activity she does is carefully thought out to keep it fresh and healthy.

“I don't know if it is a curse that she is coming from a championship series, so it is already in shape,” said Nakase. “We talked about you need a break?

All of this care and attention to detail means Salaun so much.

“Everyone try their best to make me comfortable,” she said. “It's actually great.”
