“It is a crime crime.” Thieves steal several air conditioning systems from local houses

Sioux City (Ktiv) – The residents of Siouxland are recommended to be on the prospect, since the community has seen a number of thefts of the climate system unit.

Three units were stolen in Sioux City, and one unit was stolen from the home of a private contractor in South Sioux City.

Two of the climate systems stolen from Habitat for Humanity Homes stolen in Sioux City, which are still under construction in the Myrtle Street.

Shayla Becker, managing director of Siouxland Habitat for Humanity, said that these thefts are important setbacks for families who will live in these houses.

“I just want to remind the community that these families are working hard to get these houses,” said Becker. “You have introduced hundreds of welding capital hours. You have a down payment. You have to go through our entire program and it is not easy. It is a challenge. So it is only a little discouraging and it is difficult to go on if people don't really understand what we do.”

Another air conditioning was stolen on May 4 from Kinetico from Siouxland in the Morningside Avenue.

Sergeant Tom Gill from Sioux City Police Department says that these thefts are serious crimes. Community members should take measures to protect their houses.

“The problem is that it is a crime,” said Gill. “Surveillance cameras are good. A fence to put these units or a kind of protection like a protective cage around these units.
