Two students at Bridgewater State University are facing disciplinary measures after a video of them distributed a racist slur on social media.

“Bridgewater State University was sick to find out that two of our students in a video that appeared on social media used regrettable hated speeches,” said university officials in a statement. “We actively examine disciplinary measures against the two students.”

In the video, two students are asked to “say something for the VLOG” and to answer by looking at the camera and saying the N-word.

The original video originally seems to be published on Tikkok and then deleted. It was released on Wednesday by the Black Student Union of the University on Instagram. The student organization condemned the two students and asked Fred Clark, the president of the university, to comment.

“And that, my people, we have to hold together and have a place where we feel united, because then we have weak connections like these that make it possible to become racist and basically give permission and comfort to say these things about us casually,” wrote the union on Instagram.

The union also asked the students to “develop the black unit and community here to increase our numbers and our representation”.

The university's Instagram account commented on the post office and said that the students would be exposed to disciplinary measures.

“We are grateful to the members of the BSU community who either communicated to us in social media posts or sent the university directly by e -mail to draw our attention to this situation,” said the university in the explanation to Boston.com.

The university said it would not tolerate racist or discriminatory behavior.

“BSU is decided to eliminate all forms of racism, discrimination, bias, xenophobia and misogyny,” said the university in the explanation. “We continue to introduce measures to update our values to create a campus community that is characterized by justice, respect and compassion that guarantees human rights for everyone.”
