Colts Chief Operating Officer Pete Ward also published an explanation after Irsay's death.

“We are destroyed in order to announce our beloved owner and CEO Jim Irsay, who died peacefully in his sleep this afternoon,” said Ward. “Jim's commitment and passion for the Indianapolis Colts, in addition to his generosity, his commitment to the community and above all his love for his family, were unsurpassed. Our deepest sympathies go to his daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foy and Kalen Jackson and his whole family as we advise them.”
