Peyton Manning 'heart broken' as Colts, NFL Family Express Grief about the death of the owner Jim Irsay

The owner of Indianapolis Colts Jim Irsay died on Wednesday at the age of 65.

His death came as a shock for many and led to the grief of members of the Colt's family and the wider NFL.

Hall of Fame Quarterback Peyton Manning, who played for Irsay and brought the Colts their first and only super bowl victory, while he represented Indianapolis, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday evening that he is “with broken heart”.

He wrote his message next to a photo of himself next to Irsay after the Colts moved in in 1998.

“I am with a broken heart of Jim Irsay's death,” wrote Manning. “He was an incredibly generous and passionate owner, and I will always be obliged to give me my start in the NFL. His love for the colts and the city of Indy was unsurpassed.

“His effects on the players who have played for him will not forget. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and everyone in the Colt's community. He is missing. Jim, rest in peace, my friend, #18.”

Reggie Wayne, one of the best-known passpers of the Colts during the Manning era, also shared his grief on social media.

Just like Ty Hilton and several other players who played under Irsay.

Bruce Arians was the interim coach for the Colts during the 2012 season. He wrote on Wednesday evening that “he lost a great friend and one of my favorite owners”.

Teams from all over the league also expressed statements about mourning and condolences.

No cause of death was unveiled on Wednesday. An explanation of the Colts in which Irsay's death was announced said that on Wednesday afternoon he “died peacefully in his sleep”.
