Around 7:41 p.m., the MCSO said that a prison officer who carried out an inspection of the unit was alerted by an inmate that his cell mate seemed unconscious and in medical stress. The official declared a medical emergency.

Several officials and superiors then reacted and started with life -saving measures, including two Narcan inserts.

The MCSO said that the man was booked in custody at the end of November for a single crime for possession of methamphetamine.
