The FDNY says that a gas leak was limited in Morningide Heights.

The authorities reacted shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday to the 3081 Broadway between the West 122nd Street and the Lasalle Street.

Con Edison said it was gas leaf of one head, but the main jump did not break.

The deputy head of operations at FDNY, John Sarrocco, said During an excavation procedure for street yards takes place on Broadway.

“I heard this outrageous sound”

Students of the nearby music school in Manhattan described a chaotic morning.

“The whole school was basically on the street,” said one student.

“We all tried to get out,” said another.

“Suddenly I heard this outrageous sound. I couldn't find out what it was,” said Barbara Schwartz, in Morningide Heights who lived.

“It was just a loud, like a white noise, and we heard it between the buildings,” said student Calder Failla.

“It is so high pressure,” said Sarrocco.

According to the FDNY, the leak was covered shortly after noon. No injuries were reported, but seven buildings in the area were evacuated in the area and several streets were blocked.

The U -Bahn service along the 1 line was set in both directions between the 96th Street and the 168th Street when the authorities examined. The service has been restored since then.

A search was carried out to ensure that the gas was not underground in any of the nearby buildings before the residents and students were back inside.
