Video shows dog defenders from Coyotes in front of Southern California home

A stray dog survived a 45-minute cojot attack in Orange County at the beginning of this month and derived at least five cojots that circled him in a residential area.

Incredible video, which was posted on Nextdoor and was shared with KTLA, showed that the dog fought the bodies in the entrance of a house in Brea on May 6th.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. at the Huntley Circle near the 57 motorway, said the homeowner.

The video shows several coyotes that surround and attack a young Labrador mix that roamed through the neighborhood without collar. The attack was apparently unnoticed until the homeowner discovered a coyot outside of his garage.

The video of a ring monitoring camera shows a brave Labrador Retriever on May 6, 2025 in front of a house in Brea (Steve Shatynski), which breaks off a pack of coyotes.

“I continued [the window] When my garage door opened. About five or six kojots appeared from different directions and went up in our hill, ”said Steve Shatynski in an e -mail to KTLA.

Shatynski posted the video on Nextdoor, hoping that someone will recognize the dog and bring it home. The dog later went into the neighborhood for two days and even returned to Shatynski's house, he said.

Shatynski unsuccessfully tried to correct the dog, but ultimately decided to call the BREA police for help. They coordinated with the animal care from Orange County, and at some point a private trapper replied to catch the dog and bring it to a local shelter.

Shatynski said he saw a list for the dog on the OC Animal Care website, but this list has been removed since then. It is unclear whether the dog was reunited with an owner or adopted by someone else.

As far as Shatynski could judge, the dog seemed to have no serious injuries from the attack. The video shows how the dog's floors, the coyotes are pursuing and withdraws as needed to avoid.

The attack has the concern of animal owners who are asked to stay vigilant with coyotes in the region. Shatynski said that the dog tied once or twice before the attack, and no other noises were heard, so that the residents were not always dependent on their pets that they made aware of threats.

Since Kojote sightings in the entire region are becoming more common, animal control officers advise the residents not to leave the pets unattended, especially overnight or near dawn when koyotes are most active. The residents are also asked to remove food sources such as home meter food or fallen fruits and use movement -activated lights to deter the wildlife.

Officials continue to encourage the public to report sightings and exchange information to protect the neighborhoods.
