MSFS Live Stream Recap: SU3, new free aircraft, marketed rentals, Praetor 600 and more!

The MSFS team was back this week with the developer Livestream for Microsoft Flight Simulator in May 2025 and, as usual, was full with detailed updates, explanations and even some surprise announcements. Here is a summary of everything that was covered during the almost 70-minute session, from error fixes and system updates to aircraft development and market improvements.

Focus on SU2 aftermath and SU3

Jörg Neumann started things by thanking the community for participating in Beta SIM Update 2 (SU2) and valuable feedback. SU2 dealt with 120 of the top problems, 37 fully solved and 7 partially defined. A total of 62 problems have been tackled since the start, with more work for Su3 being underway, which is now in the beta.

SU3 continues the topic of fixing and optimizing the error. ASOBO and working titles continue to focus on improving stability, refining VRAM use and adding requested functions such as downloading content locally. VRAM optimizations in SU2 saved around 1 GB in some scenarios, but further improvements are expected in SU3.

GeForce now and usage data

Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available in GeForce. Although Jörg has no focus of the stream, he shared this milestone as an option for those who want a more smooth performance without improving hardware.

On the subject of usage data, Jörg made it clear that hard data cannot be shared publicly, but in 2024 further surpassed in the number of users in 2024. A remarkable part of new users was casual or non-simmer that were taken into account by the visual improvements. The stability on all platforms has increased since the start and is now floating 90%.

Su3 -Featature -Highlights

SU3 brings some expected improvements:

  • Download local content: Already available in beta.
  • Peripheral devices: 28 corrections landed in SU2 and 10 more for SU3.
  • Multiplayer paintings: Compatibility for 2020 and modular 2024 aircraft paints are improved.
  • ATC updates: Better arrival procedure awareness and fewer violations of stars. SU3 also eliminates various regressions and introduces the improvements of the model/Livery matching.
  • AI traffic behavior: Insect corrections about ground movements, parking spaces, runway behavior and regional placement of the airline.

World data orientation: SIM -Update 16 for MSFS 2020

Lionel from ASOBO has joined the SIR -SIM Update 16, the first major update for MSFS 2020 for months. This update planned for July 1st focuses on the orientation of the world data of MSFS 2020 with 2024:

  • Updated aerial photographs, the vector data and generic airport orientation.
  • Better vegetation masks and water body detection.
  • Use of improved compression formats (ZSTD, tin).
  • Improved memory management, especially for Xbox series S.

In particular that does that not Add the advanced rendering functions of 2024 such as 3D trees, harvest fields, seasonal transitions or photometric rendering. The goal is the consistency of the world data between Sims, not the complete parity of the function.

Developer tools for career mode aircraft

Chris from the working title offered a detailed guide to new developer tools that aimed to bring third-party aircraft into career mode. The system uses:

  • A Career -coating instrument: Validates the aircraft configuration.
  • A Career tool: Enables developers to simulate career scenarios in development.
  • Detailed documentation and automatic intake processes about the market.

Aircraft only distributed on the market can be justified for the integration of career mode. This ensures stability and security and avoids exploits or incompatible configurations.

Career mode traction and expansion

According to telemetry, career mode is played by as many users as free flight, and even surprises the team. It is planned to expand available mission types and aircraft categories, with SIM-Update 3 expected to include severe transport missions (e.g. for the C-17) and the professional aircraft.

It is expected that aircraft from third -party providers will soon take part in career mode, thanks to the tool set now available. The support for more aircraft types (such as bush aircraft and fixed wing fire brigade) is also taken into account, although Bush trips will probably only return in SU4 or SU5.

Market trends, rentals and accessibility

Jörg announced several changes in connection with marketplaces:

  • Rental are now living for first-bidder aircraft. Players can rent aircraft for 1, 3 or 7 days, and the rental costs are deducted from the final price if the aircraft is bought shortly afterwards.
  • Gifts is still in development, with the complexity of the backend being worked through work.
  • Top-rated aircraft sales: The marketplace organizes a two -week sale in which the 100 most rated aircraft are highlighted.
  • UI/UX improvements are planned, including a better display of developer names, more visible thumbnail views and additional filters.
  • Translation and test The requirements are reduced to accelerate the approval of the content of third -party providers.

Description of changes and legacy support

With Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, MSFS 2020 will soon be referred to in official materials as “Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)” in order to reduce confusion. Jörg also confirmed plans to bring all local legends and famous flyers to 2024, although there are some delays due to no longer existing development teams and remaining errors.

City Update 11 and a free plane

Together with FlightSimexpo 2025 (in which Microsoft will not take part in person) City Update 11 will be published on June 27th with Providence, Rhode Island and other northeastern US cities.

In order to mark the event, MSFS 2024 users also receive one Free Piper Pa-28 Dakota Developed by Carenado. This is the third free aircraft in the “Make Good” initiative.

Expert series Update: Embraer Praetor 600

The current ended with the first deep dive into the Expert series 02 Airplane: The Embraer Praetor 600. This joint business jet is developed together with the working title and ASOBO in cooperation with Embraer and aims at an unsurpassed system depth:

  • Fully modeled prolin fusion.
  • Independent FMS units with a full functional set.
  • Simulated navigation sensors with realistic drift and position uncertainty.
  • Functional HUD, electrical systems, failures and reverse logic.
  • User-defined EFB app with SDK from MSFS 2024, which present data data in real time.

It will be a native MSFS 2024 aircraft as part of the experts' banner. Updates are planned in the course of the development.

Overall, the stream from May 2025 reflected a development team that is committed to stabilizing the SIM -SIM -SIM person, refining core systems and preparing for broader impairments. As always, we keep you up to date on all important things about Microsoft Flight Simulator!
