2 Israeli embassy employees shot and killed outside the Jewish Museum in DC

Two employees of the Israeli embassy were shot on Wednesday evening when they left the Jewish Capital Museum in Washington, DC, said. A suspect is in custody.

In a press conference on the night after night, the chief of police from Metropolitan, Pamela A. Smith said that the shootout was reported at 9:08 p.m. local time and took place outside the museum near an FBI field office.

Smith said the suspect, who was identified at the 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, was first “observed how he went back and forth outside the museum” before approaching a group of four people, “produced a pistol” and shot the two victims.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs identified the victims in a position on X and said: “We are shocked this morning and horrified by the news of the brutal terrorist attack that demanded the life of two of our embassy employees in Washington – Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim.

Yechiel Head, Israel's ambassador in the United States, said reporters that the two victims were a couple who had just been engaged.

“The couple who was shot down on behalf of Free Palestine this evening was a young couple who was just engaged,” said Head. “The young man bought a ring this week to suggest his girlfriend in Jerusalem next week. They were a beautiful couple who enjoyed an evening in Washington's cultural center.”

The responding officials arrived at the scene to find the victims with gunshot wounds who can unconsciously and cannot breathe with gunshot wounds, the DC DC DC Fire and Emergency Services CBS News said.

“We believe that the shootout was committed by a single suspect who is now in custody,” said Smith.

Two sources of the law enforcement agencies announced CBS News that the shootout was a targeted attack.

The suspect entered the museum immediately after the shootout and was arrested by the museum's security, the police chief reported.

“The suspect identified where he thrown away the gun and that this weapon was recovered,” said Smith, adding that he “implied that he had committed the crime.”

Smith said that he had sung “free, free Palestine” in custody. “

Head said he spoke to President Trump by phone after the shootout, as did the US general Prosecutor Pam Bondi, who took part in the press conference, and previously said that she replied to the scene of the shootout.

“I spoke to the President of the United States several times this evening,” said Bondi. “In the name of the President, his prayers are with all of us, all Jewish communities, all of us in Washington, DC”

Mr. Trump later wrote about the social truth that “these terrible DC murders, which are obviously based on anti -Semitism, now have to end now! Hate and radicalism have no place in the USA. The families of the victims are so condolent that things can happen! God bless them all!”

The Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a statement that he was “shocked” by the “terrible, anti -Semitic” shootout.

He said he had instructed Israeli missions around the world to improve security.

“We are experiencing the terrible price of anti -Semitism and the wild incitement against the state of Israel,” continued Netanyahu.

In an explanation, the Isaac, President of the Israeli President, described as a “loath -worthy hatred, anti -Semitism” and added: “America and Israel will unite to defend our people and our common values. Terror and hatred will not break us.”

The Mayor of DC, Muriel Bowser, said the DC police and the FBI will examine.

Kristi Noem, secretary of the homeland protection authority, wrote on X: “Two employees of the Israeli embassy were senselessly killed this evening near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC.”

The FBI director Kash Patel also wrote on social media: “My team and I were informed about the filming in the city center of DC in front of the Jewish Capital Museum and near our field in Washington.” Patel said the FBI worked with the Metropolitan Police on the investigation.

“There is no persistent threat to public security,” wrote the FBI autile service in Washington about X.
