Peruvian avocado supplies get a record when the prices drop

At the global avocado market, 20 remarkable changes in both volume and the price were changed in week, as the intelligence company Avobook stated in its last weekly report.

By the end of the 19th week, Peru achieved a new export record with 1,191 programs that exceeded the weekly maximum of last year. Peru has established itself as a leading supplier in Europe, which is 69% of exports and maintains a strong presence in Asia and the United States.

A total of 1,535 shipments were recorded on the US market, which corresponds to an increase of 6% compared to the previous week.

Mexico is still the dominant supplier, which is 64% of the programs, followed by California with 22% and Peru with 8%. Colombia and Peru recorded the largest volume increase in 39% and 30%.

However, this supply thrust has exerted the pressure on prices downwards. Large large avocados, measured with 60 gauge, recorded a price drop of 14%, while smaller sizes of 84 gauge rose by 4%.

In China, prices for 18 to 24 avocados decreased by 21% after two weeks. In the meantime, the deliveries of Peru decreased by 15% compared to the previous week, although they are 17% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
