2 killed in frontal contra Costa County Crash, which caused EV fire, completed the Highway 4

Brentwood, California – – – All lanes are blocked on the State Highway 4 east of the Balfour Road after a fatal collision on Wednesday evening, which caused a dangerous battery edge in one of the electric vehicles, said California Highway Patrol.

CHP was called into the scene near the Fairview Avenue on State Highway 4 at 10:18 p.m. and discovered two vehicles that seemed to have beaten the eastern track, said the CHP officer Daniel Gilmore. Both drivers were killed.

One of the vehicles, an electrical SUV, was on fire, and due to the dangers that the vehicle's battery was on fire, clop officers and other first aiders were unable to approach it, said Gilmore. As a result, the authorities were still not sure whether someone else was in the SUV from 11:15 p.m.

According to CHP, the contra Costa County Fire Protection District was on site.

The cause of the collision remains examined and Chp said that they had more information if they were available.

People are asked to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
