Atlanta, GA. (Atlanta News First)-A woman who hit and killed and killed an 8-year-old girl at a bus stop at Henry County last year has completed a not negotiated plea deal on Thursday.

On February 1, 2024, Adalynn Pierce crossed the Jackson Lake Road to get to her school bus when it was hit by Andre's Ford Fusion. The girl became the children's healthcare system in Atlanta – the Egleston Hospital in Atlanta, where she later died and became an organ donor.

According to her arrest warrant, Andre told the police that she was too late to work and her windows were late so that she could not see the bus or the girl. Later this month, she received a bond of $ 20,000 with driving restrictions, such as court files.

Andre did not think so guilty at first.

During the hearing on Thursday, the prosecutors said that Pierce had flown more than 20 feet when it was hit. The incident was observed by her family and the young children in the school bus.

The state played 911 calls, film material from inside and outside the bus, body camera material from civil servants who reacted, and much more. The videos showed that the stop signs and lights of the bus were activated and the bus driver had needed her horn for a few seconds before Andre Pierce met.

When the evidence was presented, Andre pressed a tissue in the face and sobbed.

Andre previously rejected a plea by the state that offered a 15-year prison sentence, of which five years were served in prison. Andres lawyer said they rejected the deal because the public prosecutor did not agree to prepare a five -year prison sentence.

“In this case, we were always ready to go to a guilty plea, and we don't want to have a dragged spectacle,” he said.

In her own explanation, Andre said that she wanted to contact the family, but it was not due to the ongoing proceedings.

“I prayed every day that I can take everything back,” she said. “… I will pray for the healing for your family for the rest of my days.”

Several family members and close friends talked about how Pierce's death influenced them – including her father Kirk Pierce, who told the court he awards Andre.

“I think my daughter would forgive her if she were here,” he added.

Pierce would have turned 10 on May 27th.

Pierce's death led to the elaboration and implementation of “Addy's Law”, which ordered school systems to take into account bus lines with fewer road crossings, and the fine to drive a school bus with its stop signs of $ 250 to $ 1,000.

The Addys law came into force on July 1, 2024.
