The former Ajaxstalwart retired injuries: “It hurts to say goodbye.”

After more than 250 games in professional football, Nicolai Boolsen will retire on Sunday as a professional footballer. The 33-year-old defender is forced to withdraw from football due to injuries.

Boilsen can end his career on Sunday with a league title with FC Copenhagen, even though he was out of operation this semester due to a knee injury. The Superliga leaders start the last day of the season with a 1-point lead over the rival FC Midtjylland.

The defender was able to celebrate the ninth national title of his career. During his time at Ajax, Boilesen was four times in a row under Frank de Boer National Champion. In summer 2016 he traveled to Copenhagen with a free transmission. There he added four other national titles to his trophy cabinet, which is also filled with a Dutch and Danish super cup.

After more than 250 games in professional football and 22 international games for Denmark, the professional career of Boils will come to an end this weekend. The football trip of the Danish Ajax Academy degree began on April 3, 2011 in Amsterdam with a home win against Heracles Almelo.
