DC Police Union condemns the city's leadership because MPD is faced with the conditions of the “bad” conditions in the middle of the recent crimes

The DC Police Union condemned the current “bad” conditions of the metropolitan police on Thursday, which “are driven by chronic mismanagement, neglect and betrayal by the city tour of city representatives”.

The conviction takes place in the entire district after one night of several shootings.

Gregg Pemberton, chairman of the union, said: “Immediate measures must be taken. The execution of foreign diplomats behind the police headquarters should alert everyone involved in the country's capital.”

The union said that MPD goes beyond its fragment and deals with the following:

1. The lowest staff for 50 years: The MPD workforce has fallen on historical lows with a net loss of more than 600 civil servants since 2020 – a reduction of 16%. This leaves the neighborhoods vulnerable and overwhelmed by the officials.

2. Continuation of violence and crime: Regardless of the wrong story that “crime is falling”, the city is still plagued by crime and violence that go beyond the skills of these crippled number of personnel.

3 .. Strictly revision: The officials have to work over 2 million hours a year, correspond to 1,000 full -time jobs, which affects them to the brink of exhaustion and affect their ability to serve effectively.

4. Tell vacation and free days: Routine cancellations of planned vacation and free days for employee events are standing at standards that eroded morality and deprived of the civil servants of critical calm and family time.

5. Rejected wage increases: Although the union grants a wage increase through arbitration proceedings, the city refuses to honor the decision, and the officials undermined and undervalued in one of the most expensive cities in the country. The union was forced to file a lawsuit against the mayor before the DC Court of Justice in order to force them to follow the law.

6. Un corrected partisan laws: Despite five years of empirical data, the city refuses to approach the radical, party political and exclusively ideological legislation of the extensive law on the police and judicial reform of 2020. The most disadvantageous law of public security in the history of the city has caused record crime rates and exodus qualified staff.

7. Repressible facilities: MPD facilities are shameful realization with non-functioning bathing rooms, owed changing rooms and dilapidated buildings that endanger the health and morality of the officer.

8. Fall -up leadership: Managers have a toxic combination of rudeness, incompetence and disregard for the civil servants without promoting a fundamental understanding of their roles and a culture of distrust.

9. Manipulated crime statistics: In order to avoid public control, the MPD leadership deliberately fakes crime data and creates a false narrative of reduced crime while the communities suffer.

“This is a betrayal of our civil servants and the public that we serve,” said Gregg Pemberton, chairman of the DC Police Union. “Our members work under conditions that shock a reasonable person – revised, underpaid and are not respected by managers who care more for phenomena than reality. The city's refusal to act is a shame, and we will not be idle while public security collapses.”

The union said that it demands a reform and calls for an immediate implementation of wage increases, the complete cancellation of the comprehensive law on political and justice reform, overhaul of managers and the improvement of the facility, including repairs to ensure secure, functional jobs for civil servants.

“Washington, DC, deserves a police authority who respects, supports and equipped to protect our city,” added Pemberton. “We ask every stakeholder to hold the urban leadership with us. There is enough enough.”
