The administration of US President Donald Trump has blocked Harvard University's ability to record international students, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

In one place on X on Thursday, Kristi Noem, the Homeland -Security -Secretary, said that the Trump government “Harvard was responsible for the promotion of violence, anti -Semitism and coordination with the China Communist Party on her campus”.

“It is a privilege to not register foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition fees in order to promote their foundations of several billion dollars,” she said. “Harvard had many opportunities to do the right thing. It declined.”

In a letter to the administration of the university, NoEM said that the study of the student Exchange Visitor Program was revoked at the university exchange. The program is supervised by the US investigative unit of the US home protection authority, which leads to the NOEM agency.

The move means that Harvard will not only be able to accept foreign students on his campus, but the current students “have to switch to another university to maintain their status without immigrants,” the letter says.

In a statement, Harvard described the move “illegal” and a “retaliation measure”.

“We are fully obliged to maintain Harvard's ability to align our international students and scientists who come from more than 140 countries and enrich the university – and this nation -” said the university in a statement.

The campaign represents an escalation in the middle of a broader patient situation between the university that has refused to agree to a list of requirements in connection with its diversity programs and the reaction to pro-Palestine protests and the Trump administration.

The administration replied with three rounds of federal financing and subsidies of more than $ 2.6 billion. The last one was on Monday. Harvard is currently pursuing a lawsuit in which the administration is managed to oppose the US constitution in their actions.

At the beginning of this week, Harvard President Alan Garber asked the alumni to throw their support – and donations – behind the university.

Noem, in April, threatened to revoke Harvard's student Exchange Visitor Program Certification, which is required of educational institutions to organize students on several visa types.

She gave the university administration a deadline on April 30 to give detailed records of what she described as “illegal and violent activities” of foreign students on campus who indicate a federal law that requires the disclosure of academics, registrations and disciplinary measures.

The university later said that it made the requested information available to the agency, reported Harvard Crimson, although it did not reveal any further details.

The threat came in a more comprehensive approach of the Trump government against propalestinic protests at universities in the United States, who have largely presented federal officials as “anti-Semitic”.

“The Trump government hard stipulated Harvard and other universities, including Columbia University, what the government says that it is on the campus, and that really seems to be the spark that this type of lit of it,” said Halkett from Washington, DC.

According to the federal data, a total of 7,417 schools were approved for the program of the Student Exchange visitor program in the USA in 2023.

It was not immediately clear whether there was a recourse to the loss of certification. The agency claims that it can check approved schools at any time according to the federal law.
