Ex-Brewer Ruf sues Reds for career-end injuries in Cincy's Park

Cincinnati-the former outfields of the Major League/First Baseman Call in it sued the Cincinnati Reds for damage after he had suffered an injury at the end of the career two years ago when he collapsed in a non-spoiled Tarp scooter at Great American Baseballpark.

The lawsuit, which was submitted to the Hamilton County (Ohio) Court of Common Pleas on Thursday, accuses the red with negligence not to maintain secure field conditions, and specifically cites the existence of the unpleased metal plane roller.

“That didn't have to happen,” said Ruf in an explanation. “I wish it hadn't happened. The players shouldn't have to worry about hidden dangers in a field of the Major League.”

Ruf played the first basis for Milwaukee when he was injured against the Reds on June 2, 2023 during the third inning of the 5: 4 victory of the Brewery. In the third inning, Ruf hunted a foul pop when his knee hit the end of the tariff scooter.

According to the complaint, Ruf suffered “permanent and considerable deformities on his knee”. Ruf went to the 60-day injury list and never played again in the big leagues.

Ruf's complaint states that the end of the tarpaulin roller consisted of sharp metal and had no protective padding or cap.

“This was an obvious and avoidable risk,” said Tad Thomas, Ruf's lawyer, in a press release in which the lawsuit was announced. “There are fundamental security protocols that every MLB team should follow. It is unexcused.

The red had no immediate answer to a message that was looking for a comment.

Call is looking for punishment and compensatory damage. The complaint states that the red have not taken adequate precautions to keep the stadium safe and are also liable for the negligent actions of the “ruthless” behavior of the Crew.

The 38-year-old call played in the majors with the Philadelphia Phillies (2012-16), San Francisco Giants (2020-22, 2023), New York Mets (2022) and Brewers (2023). He fought with a share of 0.329, 67 Homern and 205 RBI in 582 career games.
