Deshawn Clark guilty of murder in the death of Vero Beach toddler 2020

A jury of the Indian River County condemned the man who was accused of killing a toddler from Vero Beach before trying to make her death look like an accident.

The jury only needed a few hours to return the guilty judgment against Deshawn Clark, the first degree murder and severe charges for child abuse because of the murder of 2020, which the municipality of Vero Beach was deeply influenced.

In the course of the process, the prosecutors explained how two -year -old Akeelah Dixon died and the steps that Clark took to convince people that their death was randomly drowning.

Not long after the little girl's death on August 24, 2020, Clark told MP, he found Akeelah in the bathtub and started CPR until Ems arrived. This version of the events was refuted by the EMS personnel, which reported that Akelah was dry and wore a dry diaper.

An autopsy showed that Akeelah had an injury on the left side of her head, which blost on her chest, linear markings on the back of her legs, a bruise on her left temple, an abrasion on her left hip, a blue bruising under her left eye.

According to the results of the autopsy, Clark changed his story several times and ultimately admitted that he was untrue about certain details, but he denied the knowledge of trauma to the victim, said the sheriff's office.

A medical examination, however, decided Akeelah's death as a murder and explained that it suffered from dull strength trauma and strangulation.

Akeelah's family recently spoke to CBS12 News for an exclusive interview about their loss and ongoing process.
