A former baseball player from ex-major League responsible for his injury at the end of the career.

It played the first basis for the Milwaukee Brewers on June 2, 2023, in a game against the NL Central Rival Cincinnati Reds. He didn't know that it would be the last game of his career.

In the third inning, a pop-up was followed by a pop-up in foul territory when his knee fell against the end of the field tarpaulin role. Call cut the knee bad and limped from the field with the help of a trainer.

Ruf's complaint states that the end of the tarpaulin roller consisted of sharp metal and had no protective padding or cap. There was a “important piece of metal … that doesn't give much” on the television program of the game.

Ruf went to the 60-day injury list and never played again in the big leagues.

His first injury, apart from the injury, was ruled as a non -weakened fracture of his patella. After a call, however, he suffered “permanent and considerable deformities on his knee”.

“That didn't have to happen,” said Ruf in an explanation. “I wish it hadn't happened. The players shouldn't have to worry about hidden dangers in a field of the Major League.”

“This was an obvious and avoidable risk,” said Tad Thomas, Ruf's lawyer, in a press release in which the lawsuit was announced. “There are fundamental security protocols that every MLB team should follow. It is unexcused.

The Reds did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The situation is similar to that of Dustin Fowler. In his debut in the Major League in 2017, he injured a knee in Chicago after pushing into an electric box while he had chased a pop fly. Fowler, who derived the next inning for his first plate appearance in the majors, sued the White Sox for negligence.

The Yankees exchanged him about a month after the injury to Sonny Gray, and Fowler's first MLB hit performed against Gray next year.

The 38-year-old call played in the majors with the Philadelphia Phillies (2012-16), San Francisco Giants (2020-22, 2023), New York Mets (2022) and Brewers (2023). He fought with a share of 0.329, 67 Homern and 205 RBI in 582 career games.
