Sandgate Beach Wastewater and Leck calls on the warning against swimming

Swimmers are asked to avoid using a beach in Kent due to the “pollution by wastewater”.

The warning on the Sandgate Beach near Folkestone is expected to take until May 24th, according to the environmental authority (EA).

Tim Prater, City Councilor of Sandgate and West Folkestone, said that an outflow near the Sandgate Hotel “seems to” extinguish the wastewater on the beach “.

But Südwasser said that a damaged wastewater pipe caused the spill and the output had “no” bathing water quality “.

“The discharge from the surface water failure did not enter the sea,” it said.

The water society added that the incident was reported on Wednesday and immediately sent the teams to the Esplanade.

Since then, “it has introduced a number of measures to protect the local environment, including tankers, to control the rivers through the area”.

Council member Prater says that anti-swimming advice could be canceled earlier than the forecast.

Folkestone and Hythe District Council confirmed that EA and Southern Water “repair” the sewage lick and this signage was installed at the location.

The recent water quality classification of the EA for sandgate was “excellent”, based on samples that it needed between 2021 and 2024.
