Updated: 208 Street was opened again after gas leaks were repaired

The drivers had to move on Thursday morning, May 22nd, a distance of 208 streets in Langley's Willoughby Quarter.

The road was closed between 78b and 76b roads near the Willoughby Town Center shopping area. Firefighters in Langley Township schools in the east to take care of the disability. There was a strong smell of natural gas in the area.

Lately there has been a lot of street work and other construction work in 208 streets. A firefighter said on site that it was assumed that building equipment had hit a gas line and a spokesman for Fortis BC confirmed that “an external party” had damaged a gas line.

In the late afternoon, Mark Falkenberg said of Fortis that the repairs would be completed between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., but in the end the repairs were completed by 4:20 p.m. and the road was opened again shortly afterwards.

He thanked the residents in the area for their patience.
