Practical debut: Longines Spirit Zulu Zeit 1925

To his numerous innovations over the years Longines Keep the distinction to create the first GMT arbitrator clock. The originally square Zulu period was launched in 1925, and when the brand celebrates GMTS for a century of the wrist assembly, her attention will be dedicated to the stylish, modern mental family in Zulu times. Longines takes a complex revival of the Zulu period of 1925 a tastefully reserved route and increases the crispy, timelessly sporty spirit design with attractive rose gold accents. Although the two-tone Longines Spirit Zulu Zeit 1925 This commemorative edition is the most attractive version so far and combines its balanced proportions and an excellent movement with smoothly integrated exclusive flourishing.

While the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925 uses the same 39 mm wide stainless steel housing -design as the Standard Spirit Zulu time, the brand changes the character of this watch drastically with some gentle adjustments. The heart of these and probably the entire clock is the new engraved, radially brushed 18 carat roségold bezel. Compared to the ceramic inserts in the rest of the ghost family, this lighter, warmer material of the clock immediately gives a character on the wrist floating by vintage. In the meantime, the sharply defined, matt-filled 24-hour scale of a watch gives even more texture that thrives after its processing. Of course, the wealth of the gold itself connects the case and cleverly chooses the wrist. In addition, this layout offers a much more luxurious appearance than the previous two -tone spirits that make the slim bezel itself in gold. This impressive new benzet design is located on the well -known Spirit Case platform with its sharply waving, rejuvenating tabs, vertical housing sides and wide polished chamfer, which cut through crooked granular brushes. While the 39 mm housing diameter is sitting on the Sweet Spot for many enthusiasts (including my own 6.75-inch manner), the total thickness of 13.5 mm is significant. It is not overwhelmingly chunky, but it is not the slim on the wrist hugging case that some of the competitors of the mind shows, and the flat, high housing side architecture emphasizes this thickness. On the caseback page, the Spirit Zulu period 1925 adds the first sapphire display window of the Zulu time and offers a look at the uniquely finished movement. Like the standard model, Longines evaluates this version for a versatile 100 meter water resistance.

The dial of the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925 has its own smaller changes, but these gentle changes contribute to a more focused, coherent whole. The matt black dial, warm rounded Arabic numerals, straight swords and the diamond indices that cut into the polished outer acadentring are all ghost brands at this point. However, Longines proves the color power here. Instead of the sandy Khaki-Lume of the standard zulu period, the in 1925 instead decides for crispy white and replaces the yellow gold highlights of the regular production model by the ros gold. Each component from the handset to the gold -plated dial is shifted to this Redder color. It is a layout that feels both contemporary and luxuriously male. Without additional colors that fight for attention on the wrist, the spirit of Zulu Time in 1925 is also sent on how finely balanced the basic layout of the Spirit dial. Everything from the hours to the line weights of the external preservation scale is rendered with carefully respected proportions, with the others visually overwhelming the others. Even the only completely new element of the dial, a minute, sound-on-tone “1925-2025”, at 6 o'clock-actual reserved and prevents other components from being overshadowed. Of course, the controversial five-star logo remains at 6 a.m., which this dial may still be able for some enthusiasts.

As with earlier versions, Longines makes the Spirit Zulu period 1925 with the automatic GMT movement of L844.4. The L844.4 is not exclusively a manufacturing movement, but is only manufactured for longines from the Swatch Group sister Brand Eta and offers excellent performance figures for this price range. In addition to offering the desirable “flyer” GMT functionality with a fast local hour with the local hours, the L844.4 also offers a COSC-certified chronometer accuracy, an anti-timing silicon image and a generous 72-hour performance reserve with a BPH-Beatrates of 25,200 bph. Unlike in the standard -zulu time, the L844.4 is fully displayed here and the finishing is carried out solidly. Instead of the more frequent Geneva striping, Longines overwhelm the bridges and balance the tail with a wide, sharply defined personage for a lighter expression. It is the customer-specific PVD rotor that steals the show with a world map affected by Arabesque brushes. This is not only well connected to the bezel and the dial, but the world map itself is an attractive motive, and I am surprised that we do not see in GMT movements more often.

Longines narrowly finished Spirit Zulu Time in 1925 with his three-link stainless steel bracelet. This bracelet is a common facility in the ghost family and remains more or less unchanged here. Although the oyster style construction is relatively common, striking details such as polished internal connecting edges give the mostly brushed, gently curved connections easy play. The signed closure is similarly sharp, with a remarkably crispy engraved longines-text logo and other bright, well-triggered chamfer. Overall, it is a classic and versatile sporty look on the wrist. As with previous versions, however, this bracelet suffers slightly from the male end links. Even with a pronounced downturn, these significantly increase the effective lug-to-lug length of the watch, which can lead to an overhang on smaller wrists.

When the first GMT bracelet clock is 100 years old, Longines is deeply devoted to the complications that pioneer helped. As a celebration of the GMT skills as well as a sophisticated, attractive development of one of its most popular series, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925 is effective proof that not all memorial editions must be rerwheities. The Longines Spirit Zule Time 1925 is now available by authorized dealers. MSRP for this watch is at $ 4,350 USD At the time of the press, which surprisingly is almost $ 500 than the standard two-tone zulu time. For more information, see the brand's website.
