One child was killed and three more, including two children and one adult, were injured on Thursday afternoon after, according to Dallas Police, he had been approached by a truck near Felix G. Botello Elementary School in Oak Cliff.

Truck beats pedestrians near the school

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 200 block of the South Marsalis Avenue, right in front of the Interstate 35e.

Rescue workers from Dalla's fire rescue transported the injured to a hospital. Officials from the independent school district of Dallas confirmed that the three children and two 8-year-old girls' students were at the school. One of the children died of their injuries. The other two remain in a critical but stable state in the Children's Medical Center. The adult is in a stable state.

The crash occurred after the discharge

The crash occurred shortly after the school was released, officials said.

The police said that the driver, an older person, stayed at the scene and worked together with the examination. The authorities do not believe that speed was a factor.

Neighbors describe tragic scene

Andrea Williams, a resident of the neighborhood, described the scene with visible emotions.

“When I got out of the car, I saw all the blood and the clothes of the babies and put together two and two,” said Williams. “Summer has not even started and things like that happen, and as a parent it is only worried.”

The residents say that the area is dangerous

Brian Evans, another neighbor, expressed grief, but no surprise.

“I'm very sad about it, but I'm not surprised,” said Evans. “There are children who always cross the street who go to the apartment complex.”

Evans almost remembered a recently in the same place.

“It was a young gentleman who walked across the street with two little girls – and literally two children were almost hit,” he said. “The car had to stop immediately.”

The community requires security measures

While the municipality mourns, the residents are increasingly demanding security measures and prompt both drivers and pedestrians to prepare extreme caution, especially near schools.
