A beloved drummer died tragically after a private jet crash, in which at least two lives were lived and several others were injured.

The fatal accident occurred late Wednesday evening when a Cessna 550 with the tail number N666DS in a quiet military district in San Diego, only for miles of his intended destination, Montgomery-Gibbs, crashed.

According to the flight tracking data, the aircraft was leaving Teterboro Airport in New Jersey at 11:15 p.m. ET, in Wichita, Kansas, made a planned fuel stop and continued to the west before the crash.

On Thursday, the investigators confirmed that both people were killed on board. Eight other injuries suffered, although the authorities have not yet clarified whether they were passengers or individuals on site.

The influence of the crash extended far beyond the plane itself. At least 10 houses were either burned or damaged by debris that were scattered in a wide area and were devoured vehicles on both sides of a residential street. A family of five was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, while another resident suffered injuries as he fled through a window to flee from the growing fire.

Two other people were treated at the crime scene for minor injuries.

In addition to the music agent and pilot Dave Shapiro, the musician flew together, who bought the Eighthsor-Jet in July last year.

Shapiro's girlfriend, music producer Ryan Bruce, shared a warm homage after the tragedy. “Dave has changed my and many life of other people,” he said Daily Mail. “The community that he and the network of bands with which he worked and supported, built, will never forget him. Daniel has given us a lot of music to remember him, and he was a super sweet guy.”

Cessna Crash near San Diego passed with the tower

According to NBC, Eliott Simpson, the NTSB investigator from NTSB Senior Aviation accident said that he had met about two miles southeast of the airport during his relegation descent. Simpson noted that the airport's control tower was closed at the time of the crash, which is typical of airports of this size and does not necessarily indicate a procedural error.

The investigators are currently working on finding the aircraft's black boxing and cockpit language recorder, which could provide a critical insight into the moments of the crash. The NTSB team is expected to remain on site until Friday, with the aircraft recovery process being planned for Saturday.

A preliminary report on the incident will be published in the coming weeks, although Simpson warned that a final, comprehensive report could take up to 18 months.
