Karan Johar organized 'The Traitors' India Sets Prime Video Premiere

Prime Video India has determined a premiere date for “The Traitors”, the Karan Johar-Derderbte Reality series, which marks the largest non-written original of the streamer so far.

The Indian adaptation of the internationally recognized format of IDTV will contain 20 celebrities that compete on what the platform describes as a “ultimate test of trust and betrayal”.

The series, which was produced internationally by the BBC Studios India Productions in cooperation with All3Media, represents the expansion of Prime Video India into top-class reality programs. New episodes will fall on the platform every Thursday.

“Prime Video was consistently some of the country's largest and most popular scripting shows. Now we are making a brave jump when we scale our not written content with our largest reality series so far -” The Traitors “, said Nikhil Madhok, head of the original, Prime Video India. “With drama, manipulation, exciting gameplay and unexpected twists, the show is mounted on a large scale with high production values.”

Madhok praised the choice of Indian media personality Johar as the host and noticed his ability to “defeat the fire in this volatile mix of 20 celebrities, each of which compete with a massive cash prize and the title of the ultimate winner”.

“The Traitors” has become one of the fastest worldwide worldwide reality formats, with over 35 adjustments in more than 30 countries. The BAFTA and Emmy Award-coated format challenges the participants to identify traitors under their group and at the same time to fight for a significant cash prize.

Sabrina Duguet, Executive VP APAC at All3Media International, emphasized India's receptivity to reality programs. “India is one of the most dynamic and exciting markets in the world with a audience base that is very susceptible to reality shows,” said Duguet. “The Indian adaptation of 'The Traitors' offers this audience top-class prominent and intensive drama, all of which are wrapped in a thriller-like gameplay.”

The executing producer of BBC Studios India Productions Neha Khurana emphasized the psychological elements that have made the format successful worldwide. “” Die traitor “has the audience worldwide about age and spoke with his brave, dramatic and psychological gameplay,” said Khurana. “With an all-cold line-up and stunning twists, 'The Traitors' is a non-assignable pleasure for fans of reality entertainment with high missions.”

The announcement signals the continued Video India investment in local content production after successful original series such as “Pateatal Lok”, “Mirzapur” and “The Family Man”.

The Indian adaptation of “The Traitors” flocks from June 12th.
