Ni Water asks the farmers to look for LECKS to avoid large invoices

With the spring on us, dare out cattle to enjoy the milder weather.

The stocks of excursions are in demand again, and this can lead to an increase in the leaks.

It is therefore important that the supply is monitored after switching on the offer to leak, which may have developed in winter.

Paul Bryce, head of the water at NI Water, said: “We know that spring is an important time for our farm community, with many animals being brought to fields after a long winter.

“We ask farmers to check their measuring devices before switching on troughs and other water sources.

“As soon as you have been switched on, check the measuring device again. If it moves quickly, you know that you have a leak on your property.

“When farmers pay for their water, every leak is money in the drain for them.

“By checking your real estate, outer toughs, land and troughs, leaks can be quickly repaired, which prevents a large invoice.

“A typical leak in a drinking rog can increase the water bill of a farmer by up to £ 200 a week.

“Over 60 percent of our non -domestic customers are classified as farms, so it is a very important consumer group for us.

“At a dairy farms, the drinking water from cattle makes between 50 and 75 percent of the water consumption of the farm. It is therefore important farmers who have a clean constant water supply.”
