North Charleston Chief, who brings a new criminal police to the department

A specific start date has not been announced, but the app is expected to be available this summer. It will be accessible in both English and Spanish.

Will Leo'n, NCPDS Hispanic Community connection, previously told the post and Kurier that he believes that the app among the estimated 15,000 Hispanic residents that it serves will be very popular.

This is because the residents will make it possible to contact the police without being so afraid that others will see their communication and take revenge against them.

Bloom founded Crimewatch Technologies in 2009 and started the app in 2015. It now serves around 300 agencies across the country.

He said he noticed that the law enforcement agencies have more trust and “wake up” the community with information to share tips in return.

“A network of informed participants can do this,” said Bloom. “We want you to take part in the process, we want you to be formed, we want you to understand what's going on.”

The chief of police from North Charleston, Ron Camacho, speaks on May 22, 2025 about a new app with which the residents can receive more crime information and report anonymously. The app is expected to launch this summer.

Crimewatch measures the trust that a municipality has in its department, the quality and amount of tips that it receives.

People who do not trust their officials to solve crimes, the effort to share information with them, said Bloom.

The North Charleston police operate 120,000 inhabitants and commuters during working hours at almost 200,000, as Camacho estimated.

The department received 140 tips last year.

Its previous department is 10 -smaller. It has an average of three times more tips.

Bloom said that North Charleston received more than 1,000 tips in the first year of the app.

These tips help the officials to solve cases. On average, law enforcement agencies that use crimewatch can solve 7 percent more serious crimes than other agencies, according to the company.
