Pleading for the last words of Death Row's oldest inmate, 75, when he was executed by injection because he had killed wife and two sons

The oldest inmate of Death Row left an eerie plea in his last words before being executed by fatal injection.

Tennessee inmate Oscar The 75-year-old Smith was killed on Thursday morning because of the murders of his ex-wife and adolescent sons in the first execution of the state since 2020 because of the murders of his ex-wife and adolescent sons.

In his last words, Smith insisted that he was innocent and begged that the judicial system was reformed.

He said, “Someone has to tell the governor that the judicial system does not work.”

Smith said his conviction one last time and said: “I didn't kill her.”

He was declared dead on Thursday at 10:47 a.m. after receiving a fatal dose of the drug pentobarbital in the Rivanbend Maximum Security Institution.

The sun recently spoke to a former executioner for the death cell, which saw the head of a murderer out on fire, and a pastor who has accompanied more inmates in the last few minutes.

Smith was convicted of stabbing and shot his alienated wife Judith Smith, 13-year-old Jason Burnett and 16-year-old Chad Burnett.

He murdered her on October 1, 1989 in the house in Nashville, Tennessee.

Smith was sentenced to death in July 1990 and spent almost 35 years in the death cell and was the oldest inmate in the United States.

A district Court The judge submitted an application to reopen the case in 2022 despite some new evidence that the DNA was on one of the murder weapons.

The judge decided that the evidence of Smith's guilt was overwhelming and that the new information did not change this.

Two of Smith's colleagues told the original process that he asked her to kill Judith.

He also had a history of violence and threats against the Family.

The conviction was still the fact that Smith took out insurance policies for all three of his victims.

The court also heard that one of the young victims screaming “frank, no!” in the background of a 911 call at the time of the murders.

Frank is Smith's second first name and the one he used regularly.

After Smith had been confirmed dead, the two siblings of Judith said that they still miss the three victims all these years later.

Her sister Terri Osborne said that deaths were a memory of the dangers of domestic violence.

She said: “We know that it is incredibly difficult to leave to leave a spouse who abuses, but pray that this case becomes an call for action and encourages the risk of looking for help before it is too late.”

Smith's execution was the first in Tennessee since 2020 and he chose the fatal injection – a cocktail of three Drugs.

Alternatively, he could have decided to be killed in the electric chair.

In recent years there have been considerable controversy about the method – with Justice Sonia Sotomayor from the Supreme Court, she described it as “the chemical equivalent to be burned on the stake”.

In March, a double murderer named Brad Sigmon was the first person in the United States to have been executed for 15 years by shooting the squad.

According to reports, he continued to breathe after he was shot three times into his chest.
