Boston Celtics Mailbag: Jayson Tatum violations Implications, trade proposals

The offseason from Celtics officially started after a breathtaking exit in the second round against the Knicks last week. How the franchise reacts to the loss in the middle of a wage and salary billing and Jayson Tatum will be fascinating for long absence this summer. Let us have some questions about these topics and what can be learned this week this week.

Brian, I don't think someone should be surprised that this Celtics team has their goal far behind. Yes, injuries/illnesses were a factor. However, the biggest problems of the Celtics this season were 1) Inconsistent game at home 2) Great leads and 3) coach Mazzulla was too late to make adjustments/repetition errors.

Each of these things came back to bite the team in the playoffs. Of great concerns, they were all also regressions from the 2022-2023 season and some seasons before.

As a collective, this group was “over the hump” and created the problems they had held back, which ultimately led to Banner 18. Now I am not sure that the 2023-2024 season was perhaps no Autration than a correction. How do you take? -Sean S

All fair points Sean. There was a big change in the team of last year that won the title, and I think that certainly contributed to the fact that many of the view that the team overcome the hump. However, these old deadly defects that came back during the regular season in the regular season were overlooked to a certain extent as discomfort after the title. Some of the home losses at the beginning of the season were amazing and there were many late game breakdowns that predicted the first two games of the Knicks series.

I didn't have much grip with Mazzulla's game management during the regular season (in my opinion in my opinion 2022-23), but this was by far the worst playoff performance. There was a lot of fault to walk the team for the collapse, but Mazzulla certainly didn't help the Celtics with his maneuvers.

With two very ugly playoff losses in the past three years, we simply say that the grace after a title for this group is probably not that big in the future. Ultimately, it cannot compete with Tatum Out Outle next year, since the standards for the remaining group will be so different (this will look significantly different anyway). How this remaining group reacts to this exit in the second round will be meaningful and help to form the direction in which this team goes to the rest of the decade.

The feeling that the media make it appear more difficult than it is really for Celtics to go under the 2nd apron. Holidays in the heat for Rozier and a few 2. Picks and Miami would be stupid not to jump on it. Rozier is at 26 million last year, so they save $ 4 million in 2025-26 and have increased in the last 2 years of the vacation contract.

Act Porzingis and back to Washington against Marcus Smart and a small filler contract to do the $$ work and then extend the Smart contract. These are two accidental first thoughts, there could certainly be better offers, but in general it just doesn't seem to be the impending financial disaster that some can do.

The problem with the contract of vacation is that it is increasing for a man who is already 35 years old. He only appeals to teams who want to win now, and these teams probably have reservations that will pay a 37-year-old $ 37 million in a few years if he will most likely not be the top 3 option.

The Celts ended the way in which champions did. They blew leads and terminated in the 1st quarter of this last game in NY. One blow and they got there. The past season was great until it was important. What happened? Was it injuries? Now we hear that Jaylen had a meniscal tear. It was clear that something was wrong with him. Jrue was a non-factor in the playoffs. He age overnight. Payton is limited against strong defenders. KP – sad and disappointing. He was dominant in the middle of the season. Al tried, but he and Kornet could not compete against Kat and Robinson. I'm crazy because I thought we were better and I discharged. Your thoughts? -Malcolm

These are all fair ventilation slots Malcolm. Ultimately, I think that it was a bit of everything that you put on. Injuries certainly didn't help, but they did not prevent Boston in the first two games of the Knicks series from building 20-point leads. These breakdowns came for various reasons. Cold shooting. Bad management and coaching in the game. Defensive. Injuries have certainly also agreed. Holiday and Horford definitely started showing their age when the playoffs continued with their inconsistency.

The Celtics should decorate everything because this team should still play. It will stab even more in a month or two if it turns out to see what the next version of this team will look like due to financial concerns and Jayson Tatum in relation to talent.

Will Tatum count against the team cap next year? – David in Framingham

It will. Tatum will earn 54.1 million US dollars next year, since every dollar, despite Tatum's injury, a tough reality in the NBA, will still count against the upper limit.
