Apple takes Apple Watch Camera plans because it was a terrible idea

In the same report on Apple's upcoming AR glasses, Bloombergs Mark Gurman shows that Apple plans for an Apple Watch with a built -in camera to register. It was not expected that it was used for wrist selfies, but it is probably the best that Apple decided to continue from this idea.

The journalist writes: “The company had acted actively by 2027 to publish an Apple Watch and Apple Watch Ultra, equipped by the camera, but this work was closed this week, according to the situation familiar. The company continues to work on airpods with cameras.”

Previously, Bloomberg reported that Apple wanted to add cameras to both Premium Apple Watch modelsincluding the regular series and the Ultra.

The series model would have presented a camera on the display, while the Ultra version placed one on the side near the digital crown and the side button. At that time, Gurman explained how these placements would work:

Apple is likely to consider this approach because the thicker ultra has more space to work. This would mean that an Ultra carrier can easily focus on something to scan an object. A Series Watch User would now have to switch over her wrist.

While Apple aimed to increase the visual intelligence with a camera on the Apple Watch, the company may have decided on roadblocks such as battery drainage, accuracy problems or simply that it is not worth it.

Since Apple still has a clear vision for Apple Intelligence, the company has to step down and concentrate on what is most important for Apple Watch users: health functions.

With the falling sales of Apple Watch, the company needs a further breakthrough moment to promote upgrades. This could be done in the form of a suitable temperature sensor, blood pressure monitoring or an analysis of the sugar level.
