Olympic highlights 23/05/2025

After a six -year break, the ITTF Sports Science Congress returned with record participation. The event took place in mid -May in the Aspeptar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar. The congress, which took place just a few days before the final of the ITTF World table tennis championships in Doha 2025 and on the way to the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, underlined the strategy of ITTF to embed the latest science across all sports levels. International Volleyball Association (FIVB)

The FIVB athlete commission launched its first athlete seminar “Beyond the Court” after the career after career. This pioneering program is intended to lead volleyball and beach volleyball athletes when they go into their career from the elite competition to the professional athlete. The seminar will take place in the FIVB Volleyball House in Lausanne from October 6 to 10, 2025 and was developed by the FIVB athlete Commission in cooperation with the International Center for Sports Studies (Cies), the FIVB and other key partners. The initiative matches the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, which is driven by the motto “Together as one”. More information here.

Rowing world

World Rowing has announced the start of the Virtual series 2025 World Rowing, a four-part series that is decided on challenging rowers and fitness lovers by “Out-of-the-Wordinary” tests on the inner reduction machine. The Virtual Series 2025 World Rowing takes place from June 1 to September 30, 2025 and will have four unique monthly challenges, which reveals shortly before the start of the month. World Rowing has also launched a new call for the forms of expression of cities, regions and national rowing associations in order to align its flagship events for 2027 and 2028 and to change a shift in traditional competition to a strategic, partnership-oriented model. In the core of this new direction, the strategic event attribution process (SEAP) of World Rowing-a Long-term, collaborative framework is to align important rowing events with host destinations that have a commitment to innovation, sustainability and sporting heritage. Geneva in Switzerland was officially confirmed as a host for the Mixing Double Curling Championship 2026 and the World Senior Curling Championships 2026. The competitions take place from April 25th to May 2, 2026. Details here.
