Raleigh Police Video published in Tyrone Mason :: Wral.com

Video that shows that North Carolina State Highway Patrol Troopers and Raleigh Police Officers, who react to a fatal crash, were published to the public.

The videos published on Friday come from the Raleigh Police Department of October 7, 2024, in which Tyrone Mason was killed. Wral News is still waiting for the publication of the Dash Cam and Body Camera videos of the State Highway Patrol.

On Wednesday, the district prosecutor of Wake County, Lorrin Freeman, announced that Trooper Garrett Macario and SGT. Matthew Morrison could not be adequately charged after a long review of events related to the fatal accident in October.

One of the videos shows a responding police officer in Raleigh who is coming to the scene.

Someone is said in the video: “Sir, are you doing well, sir?”

One of the officers said: “Should I check a pulse?”

“Yes, we have to get it out too,” said another answering officer. “We no longer want to hurt him, but see if he breathes or something.”

“He doesn't breathe,” said one of the officers. “No pulse.”

Wral News was part of a media coalition that fought for the publication of the film material and gives a new context with the answer. Freeman questioned the soldiers' credibility. She looked deeper in Macario and Morrison's earlier work.

The video contained hours of dash cam and body cam film material that provides more details about how soldiers were not true, what happened during the crash. The Raleigh police said the first information provided by responding soldiers was misleading. Family members of Mason believed that he was persecuted by soldiers and civil rights lawyers in order to urge the judiciary.

Freeman said there is evidence that pointed out that Macario spoke part of a chase with the Raleigh police that night. Although the soldiers are still busy, Freeman said that they are not allowed to charge criminal charges in their district.

If the soldiers can keep their work, according to Freeman's decision, they have to work outside of Wake County.

Macario and Morrison were transferred to administrative leave. The State Highway Patrol still checks the matter with SGT. Chris Knox adds that the behavior “does not reflect the high standards that we present to our members”.

It is not clear whether the Raleigh officers were disciplined for the incident.

Wral News works on the analysis of the videos.
