San Diego aircraft crash

San Diego – A private jet with a musical day and five others met in the early Thursday a power supply in foggy weather and fell into a district in San Diego, hit a home and killed several people on the flight.

After the house got on the street in flames and jet fuel, half a dozen vehicles were lit, while the residents in the neighborhood of the US Navy residential building were shaken woken up shortly before 4 a.m. by the thundering crash and subsequent explosions. They saw a fire wall from the windows.

“I cannot give words to describe what the scene looks like, but with the Jet fuel that goes down the street and all at once, it was quite terrible to see,” said Scott Wahl, chief of police from San Diego.

Nobody in the neighborhood died, but eight were taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation and injuries that were not life -threatening, including a person who was injured from a window, said police officer Anthony Carrasco.

Dave Shapiro, co -founder of the Sound Talent Group, and two employees were among those killed, the music agency announced in a statement. The Sound Talent Group represented artists such as the American pop band Hanson, American singer songwriter Vanessa Carlton and the Canadian rock group SUM 41. Shapiro also had speed records.

“We are destroyed by the loss of our co -founder, colleagues and friends.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, six people were on board the aircraft. The authorities were still combing the scene and recovering the corpses before they published an official number and identified the dead, although it was not assumed that it was survivors on board the flight.

Daniel Williams, former drummer of the Metal band The Devil Wears Prada, posted on Wednesday afternoon on his Instagram that he got on the plane with Shapiro. The band posted a homage to Williams on their Instagram page.

“No words. We owe everything to you. Love yourself forever,” wrote the band.

A representative of the band referred to their social contribution when he was asked about Williams' death.

Parts of the Cessna 550 quote from Shapiro from 1985 transferred a large area, including fragments under the power lines and a section of wings on a street behind the houses, said Elliot Simpson from the National Transportation Safety Board.

Neighborhood hit hard

The beaten house was destroyed, with the front being burned heavily and his roof collapsed, and about 10 more were damaged in Murphy Canyon, the largest quarter of the motorhomes in the country, the company was damaged, said officials.

Ben McCarty and his wife, who lived in the house who was hit, said they felt heated everywhere.

“My wife screamed and she says: 'There is a fire',” said McCarty, who has served in the Navy for 13 years, to the local ABC subsidiary KGTV.

When he went to the front of the house, he saw that the roof had fallen off and flames blocked its exit. They packed their children and dogs and ran backwards where their neighbors helped them climb over their fence to escape.

The police help to save dogs from a house after a small plane fell into a quarter in San Diego, set up several houses and forced evacuations along several blocks on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The plane also hit both vehicles of the couple who were burning.

“It brought my truck to our living room,” said McCarty.

Other vehicles along the block were melted and burned into burned shells. A stubborn car fire sent smoke for hours.

Ariya Waterworth said she woke up to a “Whooshing noise” and then saw a huge fireball outside. She screamed for help when firefighters arrived and helped her get out with her two children and her family dog.

One of the family's cars was “completely decomposed” and the other had extensive damage. Her farm was covered with aircraft parts, broken glass and rubble.

“I definitely feel blessed because we are spared,” she said.

At least 100 inhabitants were evacuated. Hours after the crash, Jet fuel rolled down the Salmon Street. The smell of damps remained all day long, and the officials said it was unclear when it would be certain for people to return.

“We have Jet fuel everywhere,” said Dan Eddy, deputy head of the San Diego fire brigade.

Eddy added that the fog in the morning was so thick that “they could hardly see them in front of them”.

The plane comes from a small airport in New Jersey

The flight started by Teterboro, New Jersey, near Manhattan, on Wednesday at around 11:15 p.m. and, according to Simpson, in Wichita, Kansas, to San Diego.

Based on the flight route, it was bound for Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport when it hit power lines after 3.2 kilometers southeast of the airfield, said Simpson.

Audio from www.liveatc.net contains a brief transmission of the pilot, which says that it is finally to the airport and was about 4.8 kilometers at 3:45 a.m.

The NTSB investigators wanted to spend the scene on Thursday and Friday to collect evidence, said Simpson. He welcomed video or other details from witnesses.

The plane tried to land in foggy weather

At this hour and in foggy weather, the aircraft probably became in operation in an instrument flight rules, which is usually used during reduced visibility, said Barry Newman, a state-certified aviation wal.

For this airport, however, the pilot has to rely on sight as soon as an aircraft reaches 673 feet (205 meters).

“If a pilot descends to this level and he cannot see the runway, he has to request a missed approach or redirect to another airport,” said Newman.

In October 2021, a twin plane plowed a suburb of San Diego, who killed the pilot and an ups delivery driver on the floor and burning houses. It prepared to land at the airport.

And in December 2008, a Marine Corps fighter plane hit a house in the city of University City in San Diego and led to an explosion in which four people were killed inside. The Marine Corps blamed the crash on mechanical failure and human mistakes.
