New: ACPD Implementation of death investigations along the Custis Trail

A man was found dead along the Custis Trail in Arlington today, which led to a police investigation.

The man's body was found shortly after 11 a.m. near the path and the intersection of the N. Kensington Street and Fairfax Drive, said a spokeswoman for the Arlington County police. This is east of Westover Park.

“You have closed the way, there are black bags and police vehicles on the closed part of the path,” said a local to Arlnow today.

“[Police] You found someone you had been looking for for a few months, ”said another local.

Detectives investigate death, but do not believe that the community gives a threat, according to Kiyah Daniell from ACPD, who sent Arlnow the following explanation.

Around 11:12 a.m. on May 23, adults were male human remains near the Custis Trail in the area of the Kensington Street and the Fairfax Drive. The Arlington County police authority conducts a death examination through the office of Chief Medical Examiner, who will work to identify the deceased positively and to determine the cause and type of death. The examination has not yet been completed and the preliminary investigation did not result in a threat to the municipality.

So far, the police have not directly confirmed the speculation that the death examination is associated with the news that a missing McLean man in Arlington has died.

The 80-year-old man was last seen in a shop near Langston BLVD and N. Glebe Road at the end of November, according to the Fairfax County police. This is about two miles from the area where the body was found today.

“The ACPD police, the Fairfax County police and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, followed the remains in the area in a case of missing persons after Fairfax County,” said Daniell.
