Viral video by Bulloch Co. calls on deputy online bullying

Bulloch County, Ga. (WTOC) – A viral video that started with hate on a bulloch County Deputy for his weight has turned into a positiveness.

“It is so worthwhile to see them successfully, and then they come back and they share all their stories with them,” said James Revell.

James Revell, who is known as “Bubba” in the community, is a born Bulloch County who decided to join the law enforcement authorities in order to fulfill his passion for working with children.

As a school resource officer, he did a video on May 15, when he published a video in which he congratulated the graduate.

“Then we suddenly started to see how much more views got than normally,” said Revell.

A few hours after Bubba's video was posted, the view rose. Now the contribution has more than 2.5 million views and more than 12,000 comments.

Most of them were hateful comments. They attacked him and always made fun of his weight.

“I mean there were some hurtful comments,” said Revell. “Some were somehow funny, but many of them were hurtful and humiliating and humiliating. They have checked out to me and I am fine that I am fine. So you like … you want to record another video.”

Then Bubba changed the narrative by addressing hatred with humor.

“I'm used to breaking things, just not the internet,” said Revell.

Even turn one of the hateful comments into a new name.

“It is Barricade Bubba and if I have to be the barricade that stands between you and our children, I will do it,” said Revell.

Bubba hopes that this new video can reach children, receive hatred or bullied via social media.

“I want you to know that you don't worry that the shadow, people throw, or hatred,” said Revell. “I only know that people love you. Just like in this. There are so many people who have expressed love for me, and this is the same way for children. They are really loved and we love our children and will make sure they are protected.”
