Deadly bus against Semi-Crash closes part of the I-96 in the middle of another, non-related semi-crash

Lansing, me. (Wilx) -A CATA bus that drove on the I -96 western direction started on fire on Wednesday afternoon and closed part of the street.

According to the Sheriff office of the Ingham County, the MPs were sent to the crash for the first time at 4:15 p.m., and the MPs saw that a Cata shuttle bus had a semi. The Cata bus had caught fire and spread smoke across the highway.

Firefighters found that with the exception of the driver who died at the scene, the bus was empty. The Semi truck driver was intact. The cause of the crash is still being examined. No names were published. Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to see Adam Jackson under (517) 676-8211.

A 62-year-old Transdev driver, a company that was contractual with Cata, was declared dead at the scene.

“In the name of all at Cata and his contractual service provider Transdev, we express sincere condolences and heartache in relation to the tragic death of a transdev driver. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement officers at the investigative officer,” a CATA spokesman told News 10.

The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team is still at the scene in which the crash is examined.

Another crash also completed the I-96 near the Okemos Road. This crash also included a semi, but this time the truck embedded into the waking area. Nobody was injured in this crash.

The two accidents were several miles apart. Officials believe that they have nothing to do with each other.
